Incredible Transport Options From the World of Fiction

While you’re waiting for your train to arrive, you may well be thinking there must be a better way to get around. And you’d be right - if you lived in the world of fiction, at least. Within the pages of some of the most famous books, there are some pretty incredible alternatives to taking the bus. Here’s a look at some of the most inventive and original transport options featured in the world of fiction.
The Ent - Lord of the Rings
If you’re looking for something different, how about a moving, talking tree? We’re pretty sure this meets the mark so look no further than Tolkien’s creation in Lord of the Rings. In the second installment, Pippin and Merry travel in the topmost branches of Treebeard, one of the leaders of the Ent, a magical race of animated trees.
Laputa - Gulliver’s Travels
If a walking tree isn’t dramatic enough for you, how about a flying island? Dive into the pages of Gulliver’s Travels and you’ll discover Laputa, a flying island. Author Jonathan Swift describes how the inhabitants of this island, the Laputans, have mastered the art of moving their island around using magnetic levitation, thanks to the adamantine at the foot of the island. There’s no mention however about what happens when you want to go in one direction and your neighbor wants to go the opposite way…
Celestial Omnibus  - The Celestial Omnibus
If you’re looking for a different destination rather than a different mode of transport, E.M Forster’s Celestial Omnibus might be what you need. This enchanted horse and carriage will collect you from a nondescript alley and allows you to hop between Earth and heaven, whenever you choose.  We think it’s a sweet idea - and something many of us would love.
